General

What age is Reward Rangers right for?

As soon as your child understands simple tasks and can handle a phone or tablet: usually from around age 4, together with you at first. After the one-time device connection, large controls and generous use of emojis keep things deliberately simple. There is no fixed upper limit: levels, badges, and the savings goal can motivate older kids too. Whether and how your child uses the app is always your call.

Which platforms does the app run on?

Reward Rangers is coming to Android and iOS. The Android version is currently in closed testing, with iOS to follow; you can find the latest availability in the Get the app section. There is no public web app.

How many kids can I add?

The free plan lets you create 1 child; Premium allows up to 10 people per family – for example 2 adults and 8 children, or 1 adult and 9 children. Each child gets their own profile with an avatar, point balance, and missions plus a one-time code whenever a device needs to be paired.

Which languages does the app support?

The app interface is available in 14 languages: German, English, Czech, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Dutch, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, and Simplified Chinese. Names and text entered by your family naturally remain exactly as you write them.

What is the “Ranger Adventure World”?

The heart of the app: instead of dry lists, there are six colorful worlds. Missions holds tasks with stars. The Treasure Chamber connects rewards with savings goals and the family's internal savings overview. The Hall of Fame celebrates achievements with badges, ranks, 48 stickers, and a personal sticker book. The Adventure Plan contains the calendar, reminders, and shopping list, the Radio Post is your family chat, and at Base Camp every child sets up their own profile. You'll find all the details on the Features page.

Kids & accounts

Does my child need their own account or email address?

No, and that's by design. Parents have an account with email and password; the child profile stays protected inside the family. A one-time 6-digit ranger code pairs a child device and then becomes invalid. No child email address or phone number is needed. A birth date is optional (for birthday surprises in the app).

How do I connect a new child device?

As a parent, you generate a new one-time ranger code and enter it on the new device. After the successful connection, the code becomes invalid; points, badges, and progress remain attached to the child profile. For security, the new pairing replaces the previous child session, so a previously paired device is signed out during its next check.

Can siblings share a device?

Yes, and it stays cleanly separated: multiple child access profiles can be paired with the device once. Each child only sees their own missions, points, and chat messages. Even the unread counters in family radio are tracked per child. Logout protection with a small math question prevents anyone from switching profiles accidentally (or sneakily).

Can two parents manage the family together?

With Premium, a second parent joins the family with an invitation code and sees the same missions, rewards, and approval requests. Changes appear in real time on both devices. On the free plan, one parent manages the family.

What data does the app need about my child?

Just a first name or nickname, plus an avatar emoji or a photo if you want. Everything else (points, completed missions, badges) only comes into being through use and belongs to the family. More on the Safety page and in the privacy policy.

Stars & rewards

Can my child give themselves stars?

No, that's technically impossible, not just a rule. When your child checks off a mission, it moves into the “Being checked” state. Stars are only awarded once you approve the completion. Bonus points, too, can only be given by parents.

What happens if I decline a completion?

The task simply reopens: no points, but no punishment either. The app words it encouragingly, so your child reads it as “try again” rather than a defeat. That keeps approving an honest piece of feedback instead of a courtroom verdict.

Can I adjust points manually?

Yes. You can award bonus stars or deduct points at any time, each with a reason, so your child can always see why the balance changed.

What is the savings goal?

Your child can pin a wished-for reward from the Treasure Chamber. A golden progress bar then always shows how many stars are still missing. That makes saving tangible and motivates them to stick with it instead of trading everything in right away.

How does redeeming a reward work?

The child sends a request first. The required stars are reserved so they cannot be spent on several rewards at the same time, but they are not deducted permanently yet. A parent then marks the reward as handed over or rejects the request. Only after the child confirms that they actually received it are the stars and, where applicable, stock finalized. Cancelling or rejecting the request releases the reservation.

Are pocket money and savings a real bank account?

No. Savings is an internal family learning and overview tool. Parents can represent accounts, pocket-money rules, savings goals, entries, and calculated interest while children follow their progress. Reward Rangers neither holds nor transfers real money and is not a bank account or payment service.

Are stickers and badges tied to purchases?

No. The 16 badges, 12 ranger ranks, and 48 stickers across 6 themed sets are unlocked exclusively through real deeds. Earned stickers can be placed, moved, rotated, and resized in a personal sticker book. There are no loot boxes and nothing children can buy with stars or real money: the Hall of Fame is a display case, not a shop. The arranged sticker book is currently stored on the individual device.

Family chat

Can strangers message my child?

No, that's ruled out. The Radio Post is a closed channel for your family only: there are no public profiles, no contact search, and no way to add people from outside. Only invited parents and previously paired child devices receive access.

Can I read everything as a parent?

The group radio, yes: all family members see it. Private 1:1 messages, however, stay private between the two people involved, including from parents. That's a deliberate trust decision: kids should get to practice communicating privately in a protected space with no strangers. Being upfront about this matters to us. If you want to see every single message, the Radio Post isn't built for that.

How long are messages stored?

On the server, only 30 days. After that, messages including photos and voice messages are deleted automatically. Your history still sticks around: every device stores its chat history locally for about 12 months. And you can delete your own messages yourself at any time.

How do voice messages work?

Tap the microphone, record up to 60 seconds, stop with the checkmark, preview, and send. On Android, the required microphone permission is already included; the iOS version will ship with it. There are also photos, delivery ticks ( sent, delivered, no read receipts), and over 100 child-friendly emojis.

Is there a message limit?

On the free plan, each family member can send up to 30 messages per day, of which at most 3 may contain a photo. Premium removes both daily limits.

Pricing

What does Reward Rangers cost?

The free tier covers 1 active child and 1 managing parent, with up to 5 scheduled missions per child per day, 10 active rewards per child, and 30 radio messages plus 3 photos per person per day. Premium removes those limits and costs $3.09 a month or $29.99 a year – for the United States; other countries differ. All the details are on the Pricing page.

How do I cancel Premium?

Through your store's subscription settings – at any time, without giving a reason, effective at the end of the current period. The relevant store displays the binding purchase, renewal, and cancellation terms before you buy.

Are there hidden costs or in-app purchases?

The app has no star packs, boosters, purchasable stickers, or loot boxes – only Premium. Stars, badges, and stickers are earned through family activities.

Tech & privacy

Does the app work offline too?

Many screens continue to use data that has already been loaded. Supported changes (including missions, events, reminders, shopping-list items, and chat messages) can be queued locally after a network failure and retried later, with their status visible in the app. Safety-critical flows such as requesting, handing over, or confirming rewards, as well as account transfers and pocket-money rules, require an internet connection so the server can check balances, states, and limits atomically. Offline therefore does not mean that every feature works without a connection.

How do the shopping list and private parent area work?

The shared shopping list is for the family. Parents decide for each child whether they may use it. A child can check visible family items and manage entries they created themselves. Items and images in the private parent area are filtered out on the server and are not delivered to child devices.

Where is our data stored?

In the EU: the app data lives with our processor Supabase at their Frankfurt server location, and the website is hosted by Hostinger (EU). Each family only sees its own data. Access rules enforce that right at the database level. All the specifics are in the privacy policy.

How do I delete all our data again?

The family admin can delete the entire family in the settings and permanently remove a child profile under “Manage family”. An additional parent can delete their own parent account in the app; if that account is assigned to the subscription as its payer, the subscription assignment must be resolved first. Associated uploads are durably queued and retried after an error; after a successful account or family deletion, the app also clears its personal local data on the device used. The external RevenueCat deletion is durably queued, attempted automatically and retried after technical errors. If automatic processing cannot be completed, we handle a verified request separately with RevenueCat unless statutory obligations prevent this. This does not terminate an active store subscription; it must be cancelled separately in the respective store. The privacy policy explains the details and the route without the app.

What is push, and what is a local reminder?

Server-side push notifications cover family activity such as submitted or reviewed missions, new chat messages, and each stage of a reward handover. Calendar events and reminders on Android and iOS are instead scheduled as local system notifications on the device. They do not need a server push at the moment they fire. Notifications are optional, and individual chats can also be muted temporarily.

Do multiple devices sync in real time?

Changes synchronize automatically when an internet connection is available. Signed-in parent devices receive family updates in real time; paired child devices check for changes regularly. Depending on the connection, it can therefore take a short moment before every device shows the same state.
